Host Families Needed for MN Design Team
Visit
The
Minnesota Design Team is coming to Cold Spring on the weekend
of June 9-12 and community members will have the opportunity
to host a Design Team member. The Design Team is a group of professional
volunteers invited to the community to meet with residents and
community leaders to help identify the community’s strengths,
unique characteristics, challenges and goals for the future.
Host families are important one-to-one links between the community and the
Design Team giving both hosts and guest a chance to exchange ideas about Cold
Spring and what they hope to achieve from the visit. Many communities have
discovered hosting is a good opportunity to involve community members who want
to participate in the visit but may be uncomfortable in more visible roles.
The ideal host family can be young or old, long-time residents or newcomers,
rural or town residents. Host families offer Design Team members with a place
to stay on Thursday, Friday, and sometimes Saturday nights. They provide a
private bedroom, breakfast each morning, and may extend other services such
as transportation.
Several weeks before the visit, team member profiles will be made available
to the host families. The profiles serve two purposes: they introduce the Design
Team members to the host families and they help the host families choose a
suitable match as some team members will have special requirements such as
smoke or pet free homes or dietary considerations like vegetarian meals.
The Design Team members will arrive on Thursday night around 7 pm and will
be excited to meet their host families. A relaxed gathering will be planned
for that evening to help introduce Design Team members to their host families.
If you are interested in hosting a Design Team member or just want more information
on this exciting opportunity contact Host Family Chair- Laurie Elvig at 685-3455.
Help Cold Spring roll out the welcome mat and show the Design Team what hospitality
really means.
